open call
For our second open call, we’re inviting submissions that examine the ordinary, overlooked, or everyday items that surround us. We’re seeking images that reveal how meaning can shift when objects are observed closely—through framing, context, light, or attention. Items might be isolated in a studio setting, captured in their usual environment, or presented as part of a collection, offering multiple ways to explore their presence and significance.
PROJECT SUBMISSIONS
We welcome submissions in a variety of formats—please read the guidelines for each tier before sharing your work.

Book submissions are for long-form projects or single-artist monographs, ideally comprising 45 images or more. Books are printed in a standard format (soft-cover, 8.5×11, perfect bound) and funded through an initial pre-sale, which determines the size of the print run.
Artists are encouraged to submit projects that tell a cohesive story or explore a consistent theme. While there are no restrictions on subject matter, we look for work that benefits from being experienced in print rather than digitally, with careful attention to sequencing, pacing, and presentation. Submissions should include low-resolution images suitable for review, along with a brief project description and any relevant context or intentions for the work. -
Zine submissions are intended for smaller, focused projects with a maximum of 35 images. Zines are produced in a variety of sizes and formats, bound with a staple stitch. Each project is funded through an initial pre-sale, which determines the size of the print run.
Artists are encouraged to submit zines that explore a cohesive story, consistent theme, or shared vision. Submissions can be individual or group collaborations, and we welcome work that benefits from being experienced in print rather than digitally. Attention to sequencing, pacing, and overall presentation is important. Please include low-resolution images suitable for review, along with a brief description of the imagery and any relevant context or intentions behind the work. -
This category is for custom, artist-funded projects in any format or size. Artists cover the cost of the initial print run, with pay terms agreed upon in advance. UNCLE provides full publishing support including design, sequencing, and promotion.
Artists are encouraged to submit projects that have a clear concept, narrative, or thematic cohesion. While the format and subject matter are flexible, we look for work that will benefit from thoughtful presentation in print, with attention to pacing, layout, and overall design. Submissions should include a brief description of your design intentions along with details about the work itself, so we can fully understand your vision and provide the most effective publishing support.
